Rappelling Another Day - October 4, 2011
We went down to see Daddy on his last day rappelling down the Washington Monument. Unfortunately, by the time we got there he was finished for the day. The weather once again was not cooperating. We were happy that the team was able to get safely down the wall.

Rappelling Continues - October 3, 2011
The weather cooperated and Daddy and the team were back at rappelling the Washington Monument today. Here are some articles of the day:

Rappel Cancelled Due to Weather - October 1 - 2, 2011
Daddy got up early and drove downtown to rappel down the Washington Monument but both days the rappel was cancelled due to weather. Daddy still worked the majority of the day but didn't actually rappel down the building. Mommy was happy they stayed on the ground after watching Daddy "fly" on Friday when a wind gust blew him. We hope the weather will cooperate on Monday so the team can safely finish their job.

Daddy Blown While Rappelling Washington Monument - September 30, 2011
Today, we went down to support Daddy while he was rappelling down the Washington Monument. His parents came down as well. It was another fun day watching Daddy, until the very end of the day when a huge wind gust blew him to the other side of the monument. It was the first time I really became anxious. I knew Daddy was well trained but I didn't think there was much he could do about the sudden wind gust. Daddy later told me he was prepared and had practiced going to the other side of the building in case something like that happened so he knew what to expect as it was happening. We're happy to report he is fine.

Daddy Rappelling Washington Monument Day 3 - September 29, 2011
Today Mommy and the kids stayed home to recover from yesterday. Mommy worked on editing the video of Daddy rappelling. We are happy Daddy and the entire team made it down safely. Here are some more links about the coverage of Daddy rappelling:

Daddy Rappelling Washington Monument Day 2 - September 28, 2011
A once in a lifetime opportunity! We went down and saw Daddy climb out of the tiny window of the Washington Monument and start working on the Washington Monument! We are so proud of Daddy! He works so hard for his company and is always willing to do whatever it takes, even if that means rappelling down the Washington Monument. Some of the news articles about the day:

Please refer to a few pictures from the amazing day.

1st Day of Preschool - September 7, 2011

3 year old 1st day preschool cubby at preschool baby sister helping wait before time to enter preschool

My son woke up and said, "I had a good nap." I said, "Do you know what day is today? The first day of preschool." He immediately said, "I promise no peanut butter." We had previously talked about how he couldn't take his peanut butter crackers to this preschool because of peanut allergies. He told his baby sister, "Sorry, you can't go you are too little, but I get to go and play with my friends, go to gym, go to the playground, eat my lunch..."

He decided he wanted me to make him a turkey/cheese sandwich with that white stuff you spread on it (mayo) and yogurt and a juice. When it was getting closer to time to leave he started to get hesitant about going to a new preschool but after I read him his daily schedule a few times and showed him what I packed for his lunch he was ready to go. I love his smile in his picture standing at our front door.

While we were waiting for the doors to open we took a few more pictures of him standing in front of his cubby. When it was time to go into the room, his teacher gave him a letter of the alphabet and he had to go in and find his letter and sit in that spot. He never looked back to see if I was still there he just proceeded into the room to look for his letter.

When I picked him up and asked him about his day he said a boy got sick and had to go to the doctor? He said someone had pushed the little boy and he fell down? Not sure how true the entire story was but something interesting must have happened. He said he had fun in gym class playing soccer and jumping around. He later said he really liked his new preschool but missed his friends at his old preschool. Mommy enjoyed watching her "big" boy off to another school year and used some of the time to work on the Peek-a-Bye-Baby™ cover and spend some one on one time with his baby sister. Thank you preschool teachers! We love you.

Learning to Stand - August 21, 2011
It's amazing watching your baby learn so much each day. Our 10 month old is learning to stand. I love watching her face when she realizes she is standing on her own. Usually once she realizes it she sits down. Here is a quick video of her the first couple of times.

Brother and Sister - August 10, 2011
I feel fortunate to know that our 3 year old and our 9 month old will take care of each other. As much as I'm constantly asking our 3 year old to be gentle around his sister I also know he looks out for her. He lets me know if she has something in her mouth that she shouldn't or if she is crawling down the hallway. Recently when I dropped them off at gym school (if she's tired she sometimes initially gets upset) and as I was leaving I saw our 3 year old run into her room and say "It's ok...Mommy be back soon." I left with a smile on my face even though my youngest was crying because I knew her big brother would make her smile in a minute.

Summer Concert - July 29, 2011
We finally made it to the Friday Night Free Concert held in our community. I am so glad we finally went even though it was once again around 100°. Our 3 year old had fun playing ball with a friend and he also had a blast dancing on stage with the performers. He even got a special treat, a giant slushie (even though Mommy disliked the fact it had a ton of artificial dyes in it...I guess you have to give in every once in awhile) and he'd take a bite of the slushi sprint to the front, dance on stage for a minute then sprint back take another bite of the slushi, sprint to the front, dance on stage (which may entail just jumping, doing jumping jacks, waving his arms, whatever the music moved him to do) and then sprint back take another bite of the slushi....Our 9 month old enjoyed doing her shimmy, wiggle dance, and had fun meeting our picnic blanket neighbors.

Training for Tri - July 23,2011
My husband and I signed up for a Sprint Tri and although it is hard to find time to train it does "force" us to enjoy the outdoors. Fortunately, both kids seem to enjoy riding in the bike trailer even though it has been extremely hot. We try to wait until the evening when it is a little cooler. I love biking through our community. Now that we've bought all of the Tri gear (I didn't realize how much stuff is needed to do a Tri) I hope we sign up for our community's Sprint Tri every year.
