Video Review
This was the video I recorded the first time I read the book to my 3 year old. It is evident two minutes into the video even my three year old is able to understand the message "forewarned is forearmed." I am very proud of my son and his reaction to this beautifully written and illustrated book. This video demonstrates that with education we can teach our children how to speak up about child sexual abuse.
Please also refer to this video of Debra Byrne reading Some Secrets Should Never Be Kept.
Some Secrets Should Never Be Kept is a great book to help you discuss child sexual abuse with your little one. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is estimated that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys have experienced an episode of sexual abuse while younger than 18 years. Please talk to your child about child sexual abuse.
Teacher Notes
Just as teachers and parents teach water safety, road safety, fire safety we should teach body safety. We as a community need to educate our children to try to help keep our kids safe. Please refer to the Some Secrets Should Never Be Kept website for more information. A teacher packet including teaching notes, flash cards, feelings poster, and a sample letter for parents is also available for purchase.
Please join us in our mission to have every school in the United States use this book in child sexual abuse education. (To Top)
