Costumes are not just for Halloween...I've always loved dressing my kids up in costumes, as you can see in the "Holiday Pictures" article. Kids enjoy dressing up in costumes year round! As discussed in the "Preschool Play" article and the "Preschool Lessons" article kids love imaginary play and wearing a costume allows kids to act out the part of a Super Heroes, villain ("bad guy" according to my 3 year old) pirate, prince or princess.

Where to Buy
When it is not Halloween it is hard to find any costumes in a retail store. I've also found lately not only can I save time but I can save money by buying products online. Costumediscounters.com is a great place to buy infant/toddler, boys and girls, teen, adult, and even pet costumes.

Size Selection
My main concern with buying products online especially when it comes to clothes is whether the product will fit or not. Costume Discounters had a size chart and based on that I selected size small. My son is 3 1/2 and wears 4T clothes for height but only weighs around 34 pounds. I was afraid the costume would be too big for him but it fit perfectly and I believe there is extra room to accommodate children within the size small weight category.

Costume Discounters takes the"Risk Out Of Online Shopping" since they offer free size & product exchanges! They will even reimburse you for your return shipping as long as you purchase another product to replace the item you are returning. (If interested, please confirm with Costumediscounters.com to confirm this policy is still in effect before you make your purchase.) This is definitely a nice benefit because last year when I bought my Halloween costume online (unfortunately from a different online costume store) the costume did not fit and so I was responsible to re-pay the shipping charge to receive a new size.

Ease of Use
When buying a costume especially a kid's costume it is important to make sure it is easy to get on and off. The Optimus Prime costume was easy to put on. My son could easily step into the costume. There are two little velcro closures on the back of the costume which are easy to close. The only drawback is since it is a one piece my son has to take the costume completely off in order to go to the bathroom but I do not think the Optimus Prime costume would look as good if it were two pieces.

The mask that came with the costume is easy to put on and take off and has a nice foam piece inside the mask to make the mask fit comfortably on my son's face.
