Hofbrauhaus - June 9, 2010 (24 Months)
We celebrated Daideo's birthday at the Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh. Our son had a blast dancing to the music at the restaurant. Towards the end of the evening after 2 1/2 hours of dancing he would come back to the table, lay down into his blanket for 5 seconds and then get back up and dance some more. He even won a t-shirt for the best Chicken Dance. It was a very memorable birthday celebration.

Kennywood - June 8, 2010 (24 Months)
Today we went to Kennywood Park, an amusement park in Pittsburgh, PA. As expected our son had a wonderful time. Although, the rides were a lot faster than the rides he did at Disney and most of the rides he had to ride by himself. At first I didn't know if he would like riding by himself but he would stand in line, wait until it was his turn, and then wait patiently until the ride started. It wasn't until towards the end of the day that we realized he really was the youngest child riding the rides. Most of the children were between 4 - 5 years old and he was basically the only child that had to be lifted up to get on the rides. But he sat there like all of the other "big" kids like he had been riding those rides for a long time. He usually didn't smile during the ride he just took it all in. The only ride that got a smile every time was the plane ride. On this ride, he would pull the throttle back as far as it would go so he would go to the highest point on the ride. He loved being up high above us.
On some rides, he was definitely trying to figure out how the ride worked, like the Merry Go Round. He studied the mechanism to see how each horse moved up and down...definitely his Daddy, the Engineer's son. He also took after Mommy and Daddy and pointed out the rides he hadn't gone on. Two of the bigger rides, Mommy was required to go with him and didn't want to go on (due to baby in belly) and so every time we walked by those rides, he would point, like Mommy we haven't done that one yet. It was a very memorable day and Nana and I had a wonderful day watching my two year old have a blast at Kennywood.

Fly Swatter - June 7, 2010 (24 Months)
We had a busy day today. First, we went to Whole Foods to pick up a few items for our trip. My son had fun pushing the kid's cart around the store. Then we went to a different Tiny Tots class since we were going to be out of town during the normal class.
It was really nice to see a different teacher's perspective on the class. The activity was bubbles which they had fly swatters to dip in the bubbles and they worked great. After class, I quickly finished packing the car and we got on our way to Pittsburgh. My son did really well on the trip except for the fact he only slept for about 30 minutes. I really was hoping for one of his three hour naps. We were able to get to Nana's by dinner time. After dinner he had fun painting with water colors for the first time. He enjoyed pointing out all of the colors, red, blue, yellow, green, purple, orange, and yellow. We made lots of beautiful pictures.

Where's the Pool? - June 5, 2010 (24 Months)
Our son spent the weekend at MomMom's and Granddad's house. He was playing in their backyard and noticed the neighbors' pools. Then while he was taking his nap, Granddad got out a baby pool, cleaned it all up, and once he woke up from his nap MomMom and Granddad happily got him dressed in his bathing suit and gathered the pool toys to go outside to let him swim in the pool. Upon entering the backyard, our son said "Where's the pool?" He was looking for one of the big pools like the next door neighbor. When MomMom pointed to the baby pool, he replied with "Oh..." although I'm sure he had a blast playing in the baby pool.

Mommy Dentist - June 2, 2010 (24 Months)
Today Mommy once again had an appointment this time for a new mouth guard. My son stood in the corner watching intently and behaved very well the entire time. The only time he got upset was when it was time to leave since they had really big cool trucks to play with and he wanted to stay and play.

The Sunroof - June 1, 2010 (24 Months)
My son has come to enjoy the sunroof in Mommy's Toyota Celica. The first time I opened it he didn't know what to think but now as soon as we get in the car, he points for me to open it. When we got home, I forgot to close it but fortunately, when I went to get my son out of his car seat, he kept pointing to the ceiling and I realized he was telling me, Mommy you forgot to close the sunroof.

Cottage Memories - May 28, 2010 - May 30, 2010 (24 Months)
We arrived at the cottage very late although while Daddy unpacked the car our son had fun playing with a giant flashlight and doing a light show with it by shining it toward the sky. Soon as he woke up the next morning he ran outside to get the flashlight. Later in the day, we took our son kayaking. He enjoyed it more than I expected. Although, the highlight was probably going to the "beach" part of the lake and playing in the sand. Our son enjoyed everything about the cottage, finding salamanders with Nana, watching the fire (although Mommy was constantly making sure our son didn't trip and fall into the fire), and going for hikes down to the lake.
The second day of kayaking our son enjoyed helping paddle the kayak and we stayed out for awhile, probably at least 30 minutes before he requested to go play on the beach with the other kids. We had another busy day and by the time we left to drive home, our son was so tired that he basically slept the entire three hour ride home. Please refer below for some pictures of the weekend.

My Name - May 26, 2010 (24 Months)
Our son has been having fun when you ask him his name he says whatever comes to his head, usually "The Dude" is his favorite name. He definitely knows his name but I think it is a combination of not feeling comfortable saying his name and also the fact everyone laughs when he says something that isn't his name. The night before Daddy was playing with him and started singing his name in two parts and he actually sang it back. Then today, in our Tiny Tots class he said the first part of his name very clearly. Mommy was very proud.

Dancing in Car - May 25, 2010 (24 Months)
My memory of today is one I've had on numerous days...it is looking back at my son dancing in his car seat to whatever music is playing on the radio. He definitely enjoys dancing to music. It makes me smile every time I see him.

Back! - May 24, 2010 (24 Months)
Today, my son helped me make bran muffins. He did an excellent job mixing the bran in the apple juice and then all of the dry ingredients together and then combining the dry and wet ingredients. He also had fun putting the cupcake liners in the muffin tin. The only thing I obviously didn't let him help with is putting the muffins in the oven. Anytime I open the oven I make a big deal about him having to BACK UP to the back of the kitchen and wait until I close the oven. So when the oven timer went off, he screamed - "BACK" and backed to the far side of the kitchen while he waited for me to get the muffins out of the oven. He did this each time the timer went off. It made me smile that he got my message and I was happy that he was a safe distance away from the oven.

It's a Girl! - May 24, 2010 (Pre-Birth - 20 Weeks)
Today we had our doctor's appointment for the routine 20 week ultrasound. I was also excited to find out the sex of the baby. I felt like it was a girl although most everyone thought it was going to be a boy. The baby looked healthy and it was "confirmed" that our son was going to be a big brother to a little sister! :) Ultimately we are simply hoping for a healthy baby but I'm also excited to be able to buy some little girl dresses.
Our son did really well in the doctor's office, he is becoming a pro at the visits. Although this one he decided to go #2 during the visit so Daddy had to leave and change his diaper.

1st Scooter - May 23, 2010 (24 Months)
Mommy and Daddy gave our son his first scooter for his birthday. It was a gift that Mommy didn't really want to give
but knew it would be one of his favorite gifts. It was a Radio Flyer My First Scooter and had three wheals and a nice place to stand. We first let our son try it out in the carpeted basement and then we moved to the upstairs hardwood floors. (It was raining so we weren't able to try it outside.) Our son loves wearing his helmet so it was no problem to have him wear his "hat" to ride the scooter. He loved going fast but was good about stopping before he got to the wall.
