Running into Wall -
March 13, 2010 (21 Months)
Today, my son was having a blast running with his big dump truck full speed (and I mean full speed) into the sliding glass door. I explained how he cannot do this and if he did it one more time I was going to take his truck. So the next time he ran full speed toward the door and the last minute he detoured and went full speed into the wall. I guess I should be more clear next time.

Chicken Pot Pie -
March 12, 2010 (21 Months)
Tonight my son had four bowls of chicken pot pie, and I'm not exaggerating and that was the chicken without the actual pie. (I was waiting to bake the final pie crust once Daddy got home.) Recently, it seems my son can't get enough to eat! These days make me smile...it is so nice when your child eats the food you make.

"Mine" -
March 11, 2010 (21 Months)
You know it is bad when your son is having a nightmare and he screams out "MINE!" Our son learned the word "Mine" while watching Sesame Street several months ago. I love Sesame Street and my son was watching a show about why you should share and not use the word "mine" and unfortunately the only thing my 18 month year old learned was to use the word "mine" when he is playing with his toys and doesn't want you to have them.
This also applies to things he finds and wants. I didn't realize how bad it was until recently when he'd fallen asleep in the car and woke up screaming "MINE!" and then went right back to sleep. I guess he was having nightmares about people taking his stuff.

Escape -
March 10, 2010 (21 Months)
Today at our Fun Fit Tots class our son had a great time except after every song he thought it was fun to open the door, and run down the hall. I think I chased after him at least five times. I think he was excited about going swimming. Sometimes after class I take him in the amazing pool at the facility. Unfortunately, today was the day we weren't able to go swimming due to a doctor's appointment. It wasn't a fun day when he realized we were leaving the facility without going swimming.

Miss You -
March 9, 2010 (21 Months)
Written
by G-dad since our son was spending time at his grandparent's house.
When G-dad got back home from delivering his grandson back to his Mommy after his wonderful weekend visit G-dad thought he heard a rather strange and plaintiff sound. It wasn’t constant. It would start and stop; it didn’t last the same length of time each time. It wasn’t a sound that belonged in the house. It almost sounded like an animal…but could have been a person. How did something, or someone, get into house, and where was it? He walked through various rooms trying to locate the source, and finally decided that the sound was coming from the basement. Something …..or someone ….was down there. Gathering up all his courage, he snuck up on the basement door, got his hand on the knob, and suddenly opened the door. …….Nothing! He walked into the family room and realized this was where the sound was coming from. Monday morning, his grandson had been playing with his Mattel toy farm with all the little farm animals and their musical/animal voice enhanced barn. When the time had come for his grandson and G-dad to leave the house the horsey must have been left out (when the plastic gate to the stable is opened it turns on the horse’s whinnying, and the gate was still open). The sound of a horse neighing was coming from the stable. What a sad and pitiful sound. It was probably just missing his little friend.

Goggie - March 8, 2010 (21 Months)
Written
by MomMom since our son was spending time at his grandparent's house.
It
was a beautiful day, so we decided to take a long walk. Our grandson was missing his Mommy and Daddy and insisted on taking his pacifier (Goggie) with him. He kept up a continuous stream of jabber as we walked, including saying “Hi” and “Bye” to everyone we met…..including all the puppies, cats and squirrels. He did all of this with the pacifier stuck in his mouth. After awhile I noticed that he stopped talking and I checked to see if he was asleep. He was wide awake, but the pacifier was missing. I checked his hands and lap and looked around on the ground, but no pacifier. At that point he started saying “uh oh…uh oh”. We continued our walk, thinking we would see it on the way home, but we never did. From time to time I could hear an “uh oh …uh oh” coming from inside of the stroller. When we got home he immediately asked for his pacifier. The other pacifiers he had simply wouldn’t do… he wanted his favorite one. So, I got in the car and retraced our walk. There it was, laying on the sidewalk… a few blocks from our house. He was a very happy little guy when I brought it into the house, scrubbed it clean and gave it to him.

Cookoo Clock - March 7, 2010 (21 Months)
Written

We have a cookoo clock that we bought in Germany. Every hour the cookoo pops out, and then the little carved figures dance around to a song. Our grandson has always been fascinated with it, and loves to watch it when it goes off at the top of the hour. He is getting an uncanny ability to sense the approach of the hour. I love it when he raises his arm and looks at his wrist as though he is looking at his watch, and says “clock---clock --- clock” to remind us to pick him up and run into the room and hold him up so he can watch the cookoo clock do its thing.

Cake? Cake? - March 6, 2010 (21 Months)
Written by MomMom since our son was spending time at his grandparent's house.
Saturday we had a birthday party at our house. I had decorated the dining room with crepe paper streamers and lots of balloons, and our grandson was fascinated with all the decorations. We talked about the fact that we were going to have a party and he was very excited when people started arriving. He was especially thrilled when we brought out the birthday cake and lit the candles to sing Happy Birthday. I was serving cake to other people and didn’t notice at first that he was sitting beside me and patiently asking over and over and over “Cake? Cake?” as if to say “Hey… don’t forget me !!! I want some cake too.” He had a great time playing with his cousins and was very disappointed when they all went home.

Melted Toothbrush - March 5, 2010 (21 Months)
I thought my 21 month old was brushing his teeth although when I went in the bathroom he really was melting the end of his toothbrush by holding it above a candle. He handed me the toothbrush and said "hot" so I guess I shouldn't let him alone with candles anymore.

Keys for Car - March 4, 2010 (21 Months)
For months, my son loves to get his play keys or use Mommy's keys if I let him to carry over to his electric car and pretend to turn the key to start his car. It still makes me smile every time I see him grab the keys and go over and put the keys in the pretend ignition and then start his electric car.

Ukrainian Eggs - March 3, 2010 (21 Months)
My son did surprisingly well not breaking Nana's Ukrainian Easter eggs. If you are not sure what these are, they are beautifully hand painted eggs with extremely intricate designs. My son loved looking at them and would occasionally touch them but some how we managed to get through the day without breaking any.

Gates at Mall Playground - March 2, 2010 (21 Months)
I had fun meeting a friend at the play area in the mall although it is really hard to have a true conversation with a friend when trying to watch your child at the mall play area. One thing there are a lot of kids running around and so it can be hard to keep track of your child and second there is no barrier to keep the children inside.
My son thought it was fun to leave the play area and start running down the mall. It was amazing how far he could get even with me running full sprint after him. I'm not sure why they don't at least have a swinging gate to help deter the children? Probably some kind of fire hazard? I'll definitely go back as my son loves to play there so it is a great experience for him but not necessarily a relaxing one for mom.
